Recap of 2010 Through Twitter

29 Dec

Twitter has long been acknowledged as an amazing tool for measuring what society is all a-buzz about, so it’s only natural that we use it to look back on the year for reflective purposes. Well, the micro-blogging site has already done all the work for us and has aggregated the 25 million tweets sent this year to come up with a list of the top 10 overall trending topics, as well as the top 10 topics for specific categories (ie: sports, news, entertainment).

Twitter has also developed a micro-site where you can view all the categories, and they’ve done a comparison between 2010 and 2009. Interesting stuff, and I think a great way to look back. I wonder how many of these trends were one of the famous “promoted trends” that had the Twitter-sphere all ablaze when they debuted… Hmmm
